By the time you read this, dear reader, I’ll be off on a holiday break — a staycation hopefully packed with good books and strong coffee and long dog walks, plus plenty of relaxed meals and cozy comedy specials. Toronto at Christmastime is starkly beautiful, all icy air and twinkling lights, bustling markets, packed streets, and steamed-up cafés. With any luck, with a fresh dusting of snow underfoot.
Lean Out will be on hiatus for the week, as I listen to Michael Bublé tunes, catch up with loved ones, and gorge on festive treats. (Perhaps even bake a few?)
But first, I’m sending you heartfelt thanks for spending your year with Lean Out. Thank you for your thoughtful comments and emails. For your dedication to critical thinking, and open inquiry, and lively debate. For your keen insights and fresh perspectives. And for your decency and kindness towards each other — and me.
It’s a wondrous thing to get to go on this adventure with each and every one of you.
Wherever you are, and however you spend the season, I am wishing you and yours the very best. And I look forward to sharing 2024 with you all.
Tara, I have appreciated your openness in the pursuit of the truth this past year. I bid you Merry Christmas and a New Year filled with promise and hope. God bless you and yours.
Merry Christmas Tara. I greatly appreciate your work and quest for objective reporting and truth.
