A terrific interview. Having spent time in the Soviet Union, I agree with Konstantin about the ability to compare and contrast liberal society fairly is really important. And it's missing in the public square save for substacks like yours and his. The example the Soviet system offers (the logical conclusion that today's 'progressives' are trying to achieve - whether they know it or not believing it raises their social and moral virtue being such 'champions') hits the bullseye: out of incredible ignorance many of us are giving up far, far more than we can ever hope to gain and believing ourselves virtuous for doing so. The loss of comedy - whether by self censoring or legal and economic bludgeoning - is a canary in the coal mine. The brute fact is that nobody was allowed to be funny in the Soviet Union. So thank you for prying open this lid of what is to come if we stay on this supposedly virtuous path for more us to see the bleakness in that 'progressive' black box of intolerance being so stupidly championed by so many.
How come Konstantin was not on my radar?? He is terrific! Thank you Tara for introducing me to so many fabulous people through your podcast!
