There’s that old saying “In Vino Veritas”. I propose an extension of that: “In Comedia Veritas”. Comedy is funny (and fun!) because it says things we all know to be true, but can’t say out loud. That’s why comedy is so important. When everyone is genuinely laughing at an observation, we all realize we’re not alone in thinking this way.

The quote misattributed to Emma Goldman, “If I can't dance, I don't want to be part of your revolution" is still good nonetheless.

I would add that for me, “if you can’t laugh I don’t want to be part of your movement.”

Dave Chappelle is the greatest sociologist of our time. Yes he’s funny…but his genius is bigger than just getting a laugh. “ i like jokes” too. 💕
