Trust is the foundation of society. Without trust, it is not possible to have a civil society. If I do not believe that I can have a conversation with the person I disagree with, and trust that they have the best of intentions, it is not possible to live together in a peaceful society
When public officials violate that trust, all that is left is "Force". During COVID public officials used force, not debate & reason to advance their position. When that happened it destroyed the foundation of our life together. Going back is not going to be easy.
I am going to link to a Trish Wood substack, where Julie Ponesse interviews Queens Law Professor Bruce Pardy.
In this post, Bruce argues about the difference between "Ought to do" and "Must do". He argues that we as society should only have laws with respect to "Must do" which would be focused on not physically harming others. He argues that we no longer live under "Rule of Law" but now live under "Rule by Laws" where in we have people (usually but not always, civil servants) who are making up arbitrary "rules" and then forcing everyone to live under those rules, even when they make no sense.
To restore trust, it is necessary to go back to the basics of doing no physical harm. We need to agree to allow other to live their lives in ways that we do not approve of, providing that how they live does not harm other people. (For instance, no one can take by force other peoples property, or in some other way compel them to give up their property)
Trust won't get there. For two years every government in the world imprisoned us, bound and gagged us, held us down and injected us. We TRUST that they will do it again when they feel like it. Nobody has repented or apologized or resigned. The Public Health bureaucrats who organized the monstrosity are still there, promoted and rewarded.
Only an entirely new set of rulers from top to bottom MIGHT be trusted.

Always here for a message of hope. Thank you.
