What a pleasant little chat. It did make me head over to The Free Press to give them a shot. I listened to their seemingly-complicated-yet-overly-simplistic three-parter on Israel. The takeaway on that: poor little brainwashed Palestinians, and don’t think about the weird timing that Israel was about to boil over in anti-Bibi protests when those hang-gliders mysteriously tricked the IDF border security. I’m sure Nellie and Bari are doing some good generally, but like Tara, take far too much of the MSM narrative at face value (even after the Twitter Files!!!) and didn’t want to touch the idea of less obvious corruptive influences on either side of the conflict. I’ll save my eyeballs for braver journalism.
Also Tara, aren’t you supposed to be Canadian? Who gives a sh*t about San Francisco school policy, when our own education system is in such disarray? Please stop wasting your subscribers’ time.
I am not sure why Tara has been pushing Bari Weiss so much and now Bari’s partner (in life and businesss) on this Substack but it is making me seriously question her judgement and bias. I think I will take a break from my subscription for a bit.
I laughed out loud when Nellie Bowles placed NPR and The Daily Wire in the same position on the left and right. They are not the same. NPR lies and claims they are objective, The Daily Wire does not.
Quotes:
"NPR is committed to maintaining its independence and objectivity in its reporting and programming."
"The Daily Wire was meant to be something unique in the right-of-center media landscape"
Interesting convo between two people I follow on this platform. I don't agree with the FP take on certain current events, but I appreciate Nellie's TGIF for injecting dark humour into the whacky and horrible news of our times. Also I am part of a 'family' business so I laugh in recognition at how FP is shamelessly promoting Nellie's book.
What to say? Nellie would seem to be the epitome of the elite wealth that's biasing and undermining journalism at the moment, so I'm a bit confused as to why Tara is giving her airtime on this Substack.
Weiss and Bowles are simply "seeding" the NYTimes model in formerly independent media. They're not breaking away from the NYTimes model.
It's like 1974 when Watergate allowed NPR to spread its employees and thus its model to the rest of the media.
I don't understand what you mean about 'seeding' the NY model. Please explain.

Thank you Tara for this interview.
I have little in common with Bowles, but I very much appreciated her openness to other views and opinions. If there is hope, it is in honest dialog.
Very good interview -thanks. It clearly annoyed some of your followers; why, I don't know.

Thanks Tara - great chat with Nellie and good to get some more context/background on her and Bari's journey

Excellent conversation. Can't wait to read the book. Best wishes for the impending birth, Nellie!
