I cannot connect any logical dots in the "Post-Woke Era is Here" piece.
"The contradictions that gave rise to wokeness, in other words, won’t be resolved unless we work for a decent and more materially equal society — a process that will require political confrontation and compromise between the three major classes: the asset-rich few, the managers who service their affairs, and the asset-less many."
Woke is primarily an upper class white educated female construct. It is a derivative of the 3rd wave feminist cultural Marxism attempt to punch down males and remake society into a version that is female dominated. It is based on the fake scholarship and toxic mind virus of critical theory. It is a political and economic power grab, and the practitioners admit it.
While I agree that the way forward requires a better balanced economic system where the opportunity for earning wealth is better spread among the people instead of consolidated into the bank accounts of a few; woke has no claim on that goal. In fact, woke is an enemy of that goal. The corporatist oligarchs have embraced woke for this reason. It wrecks the opportunity of upstarts because they will not longer benefit from a meritocracy of real effort capability; but will be enslaved in a forced identity compliance. Basically a new system that is like all other failed collectivist systems that have come before... where the productive are constrained so that they are equal to those that cannot produce or will not produce. The big corporations can deal with that. They are automating labor anyway.
Woke is anti-patriarchal, anti meritocracy, anti-work, anti-free-market, anti-competition... anti-almost everything that built the modern world over the last two centuries. Woke are postmodernists. They are people that don't like the current game and want a shortcut to a higher social status... and it requires the destruction of what is, including what works and what is good. Woke perpetuates the growing asset wealth gap of the classes. They are not interested in a materially equal society, they are interested in a power shift where they get to dominate. That is why they align with the billionaire oligarchs and the authoritarian administrative class. They all share that same goal.
Jamil Javani resonates with what some of us have been advocating for over a decade. It seems whenever kids are involved the grown ups push them out of the spotlight. First step though is to have parents unite on what they want our education system to become: a place which will make their kids literate and numerate so they are well equipped after graduating, or a babysitting service. Guess which one unionist interests prefer?
My friend is kind of a wokie, within limits. I told that I don't read fiction by female authors because they create such two-dimensional guys, who don't respond to situations like anyone I've ever met in my 79 years. I guess the women who can afford to write fiction probably have never met a working-class male.
Thanks for the links. Worth your substack just to see who you will introduce me to
