'Admittedly, this is not the most poetic beginning to a love affair with food, but it is my beginning and it is the truth.' I like this quote. Your honesty and authenticity is why I subscribe.

Such a beautiful love letter to your Mom for Mothers Day. Like so many Moms, she used the meals that she carefully prepared to show her love. You are so lucky to have experienced this. I also like to share my love with my family by cooking the meals that they love the most. Today, my youngest daughter is cooking cabbage rolls for dinner so that I can join a day in the garden. This is how the gift of lovingly prepared meals comes full circle. Happy Mothers Day to all the Moms and the families that love and appreciate them! ❤️

What a beautiful post. I didn't know about the book, I look forward to reading it.

My earliest memory of my mother is her testing me on multiplication and pronunciation, playfully through rapid-fire questions... "P-U-T"? "B-U-T"? "Six times Nine"? Sounds trivial but it was a real gift.

I love your podcast and have enjoyed learning bits and pieces that are more personal. This post was just beautiful, I will get the book.

The Two Fat Ladies' cookbooks were ones I hunted for over ten years and when I found them I was so excited. So I know where Tara is coming from. My Mom and I loved watching then, especially how they wrapped pretty much everything in bacon!

Occasionally you write a piece thats keeps me subscribing. As you can likely tell I have unsubscribed many times only to be drawn in by another useful relevant article to the way I want to life. This is the first time, I believe, that there have two in a row. Thanks for the “cooking” lecture that can be applied to more than just MOMS. Paul Prudhomme wrote about this years ago in more than one of his outstanding cookbooks. Great books for a man that wants to try his hand at cooking. I have many friends that cook because if you do as Jamie Oliver indicated to you, you can not fail. And those close to you just get closer.

Beautiful. How your mom must have treasured this gift. As both a mom who has had her kids lose her precious items, and as a daughter who has ruined her mom's precious items, my heart feels content for both of you.

The reason so many have neglected to resist the patriarchy is because the forget that that we thrive on monthly shedding of our precious blood and the delivery of new life to earth through shedding of our precious blood.
