The William Deresiewicz essay is indeed fantastic. As a full-time resident of Book World, I can confirm that the basic emotional state of writers in this era is fear of other writers.
The Jon Stewart clip is excellent. Too bad he couldn't apply the same standards to discussing the gender affirming care controversy he presented on his show last month.
I find it interesting that many of the same people who currently make derisive comments about “conspiracy theorists” are the same folks who believed that society was going to crash on January 1, 2000.
