Mark Carney strikes me as a neolib from head-to-toe. He may have skills and knowledge base that would help us in the potential upcoming tariff re-negotiation with the USA; but if he does, he'd better differentiate himself, fast. I heard that certain of the 'conservative' media were excluded or escorted out of his launch in Edmonton. Very poor move (especially in Alberta) if he wants to meet the people where they are, and convince them. Take those hard-ball unfriendly questions, and have good answers for them.
Battling US tariffs and sanctions is not rocket science. Look what Russia did to shrug off the harshest sanctions. A balanced budget, make real stuff, deflate bubbles... Basically behave like a responsible adult.
Good for you, Tara. He is certainly off to a rocky start, both with the softy interview in the US media and then banning reporters from his launch in Edmonton that he thought might not agree with him.
Personally, I have no time for Mr. Carney or his ilk. I am fully convinced that whatever comes from his mouth is a lie, at least in major parts. He is not really for me and my buds. He is another elite striving to dictate to us from his high horse. His elite group is the reason why I declared that I had cried my last tear for this messed-up nation that left me long ago. (a promise I must admit to have broken a few times still)
Trudeau, Carney and Freeland are so similar in their approach that they are virtually indistinguishable. All 3 are willing to let the standard of living in Canada decline while they experiment with our economy. If the experiment fails, as citizens of the world, they will simply move on and live somewhere else.
Trudeau crime against the country was paying Corp Media to become State Media. His popularity has been sagging a few years after his 1st term, and dropped in each subsequent election. Yet Media was paid to swoon while the public simmers. Carny and Freeman have inherited this media, and the public perception. My worry is the CPC will not dismantle the Media funding, but use it for their own means. I will gag is the CBC says how dreamy Pierre P is...
Something I’ve not been able to figure out with the coverage of Carney is no one is talking, positively or negatively, about his connection to tech. Beyond his resume for the last few years, he’s grabbed onto the phrase “it’s time to build”. See his latest Instagram commercial for the reference.
Those with any familiarity with tech (and he has a lot) knows that this is a reference to a blog post by Marc Andreessen. There seems to be some deliberate signalling going on, but nobody in media is discussing it.
When you’re that much on the inside, you have no idea what a real outsider might think — or say.
You 'nailed it'!

I watched a Jordan Peterson interview of Pierre Poilievre. I think Canadians are idiots of they don't elect him as PM.
Right on, Tara Henley. This is clearly considered and beautifully written.

Sometimes I'd prefer a competent and successful plumber than some of the Finance or Tech Bros.
I am glad you asked. I spent 40+ years in the plumbing trade. Perhaps that made me unqualified (thankfully)
Once again Tara you are bang on! If Canada re-elects the Liberals our decline will be irreversible.

Blood sucking vampire.

I hope Carney wins the nomination...it will be a lot of fun watching Poilievre demolition him.
