I've avoided the word that so many like to apply to anyone they don't like these days (narcissist) but the manner of the PM's exit, the timing, the apparent lack of any sort of self-scrutiny. . . well, if the fancy-coloured socks fit. As someone in a mixed-race partnership for many years, who remembers the hope and optimism we had around immigration in Canada in the early 2000s, the destruction of the immigration consensus is a thing that actually makes me weep. The divisiveness sown in the pandemic years makes me rage. But the fact that I sold a house 10 years ago for career reasons, and the equity isn't near enough to get me back into a similar house given the current state of inflation is also a pretty major bummer. I guess I should just stop reading any right-wing media disinformation-ing me about these things, and then the bank will drop the interests rates down to next-to-nothing, just for me?

It's the perfect chef's kiss that our Prime Minister makes his final appearance with another country's mainstream media by telling a prominent journalist that the plebs he rules over are too caught up in bad feelings and high food prices to know better and that actually everything is amazing. And then, to have Jake Tapper not even attempt to question it.

I don't think ChatGPT could come up with an ending this sensational.

Such a good article Tara! You nailed it. Canadians have not felt heard by Trudeau for such a long time. He is unable or unwilling to admit his policy errors and like most sociopaths has no real empathy for Canadians. He is corrupt and has told multiple lies, many of which you mentioned. He has done serious harm to our "democracy" and reputation. I won't say never but it will be a very long time, if ever that I vote for another liberal government. Honk Honk! (I just can't resist). Actually not "bizarre musings" by Trump. It's a bit of trolling not to be taken seriously. This should be apparent by now. Good article, nonetheless.

Great article, Tara! Trudeau is going on the road to show his utter distain for the average Canadian. According to him we are not smart enough to realize all he has done for us. Deciding that we want a new Prime Minister and government indicates that we don’t understand reality ( like food costs). When he calls Pierre names, like right wing, it does not help him (or us ) because it does not endear him to the people who will be running the US government in the very near future. Justin Trudeau doesn’t understand how much harm he causes, and sadly, I suspect he never will. It’s is time for an election in Canada so we can have a new leader and government.

This is how a coward accepts defeat.

(Just so you know not to do it this way)

I‘m mot sure why anyone should be surprised by the shortcomings of mainstream media outlets failing to ask hard questions, or do a bit of a dive below the surface, especially when it might run contrary to their readership, or narrative. This is more of the same issue regardless of the subject matter in the legacy media. And not once will they think that perhaps they’re to blame for missing the mood of the silent majority.

Canadians went woke and shot themselves in both feet.

However, there are enough Leftwaffe progressive women and effite men for him to make a comeback. He just needs to declare martial law again and treat the CBC like the truckers. Presto, once again they will be singing his praises and reporting on his stylish socks.

He has not lost all of the Canadian public - nearly one in five are still apparently willing to support Trudeau and his clown show. Not to cast aspersions or anything, but what in the world is wrong with those people? I don't know what their problem is, but I bet it is very hard to pronounce.......
