Good conversation. I would add that free speech reflects two key aspects of our Western heritage, namely its Judeo-Christian and Greco-Roman roots. For free speech to truly flourish will also require we acknowledge the former. Christianity is not the enemy right now.

Thanks for your comment Tracey. I don't think the left is 'simply doing anything'. What we are witnessing does not appear to be simply copying what was done by those in power in the past. It also embodies a spiritual element that reminds me of St. Paul, the apostle, and his warning of the spiritual forces that exist in the world (Ephesians 6:12). I now see a range of commentators, both atheist and spiritual, who are now picking up on this, i.e. Jordan Petersen & Jonathan Pageau. I am learning, thanks to institutions like Hillsdale College, that we have a heritage in the West that has been richly informed by Christianity. It seems to me that it is time to acknowledge and appreciate this truth while we have the liberty and freedom to do so.

Leftists are simply replicating the previous power structure, they are enacting all the kids religions enacted for 100s of years.
It's important that we not cherry pick WHO (who's side) the nasty is happening on. We must stand on the principles.
