Ironic, don't you think? This is the type of interview CBC would have done years ago on one of their current affairs radio shows. The denial of free speech is an historical feature of fascism. We all thought the military defeat of the Nazi version of fascism meant democracy had won for all time. Meanwhile, the fascists set up international corporations to conceal and promote their ideology now quite evident in the rise of global authoritarian regimes; unwittingly aided by the protofascism of the woke left. I claim my right to think, speak and write freely and debate ideas.
I wrote to CBC after their coverage of recent firing of tenured professor Frances Widdowson at Mount Royal U. Their headline said she was fired for criticizing BLM, the implication was that this was blasphemy. We had some back and forth emails and he claimed they did value free speech and pursuit of truth…then I cited their coverage of gender ideology…that refuses to recognize other stakeholders in the mix…scientific reality, safeguarding of children, safety of women, & detransitioners. I wasn’t expecting a response…but felt he did listen.
Yes! That was the CBC I loved. I don’t know what happened. Oh wait, we do. As Douglas Murray points out, so much of the madness is simply the result of good ideas being taken too far.
