People aren’t paying attention to traditional media because they know it’s mostly fake news, in the sense that they all walk in lock step with the narrative of the day and don’t present alternative viewpoints that might be a hint controversial.

I love this conversation. Tara, I think you should interview Farhan Mohamed - the founder of Overstory Media. He is focused on creating community publications rather than “news publications”. He spoke to Mr. Geist about the online news act.

Overall, I think this is really important to know that journalists feel this way. I think entrepreneurial solutions are coming - so there is hope.

Here in Canada, our government pays the “Legacy media” two Billion dollars a year! ($1.4B to CBC, $600M to the other 3) It’s useless to watch these four outlets for any counter views, they simply read the government’s message to us. To get the real news, I’ve resorted to the internet, primarily Australian news and the BBC

Jimmy Dore & Russell Brand. And honestly, Rebel News for Canada. And I've never voted conservative, am not a conservative, etc. Not a fan of starting sentences with 'and' twice, but hey.

The media and woke “woke “ me up during COVID. There’s a war by the world on Israel, children, family, religion...the media hates you and thinks they can manipulate you ( and they do). Red all the way.

I don't trust modern pharmaceuticals myself. But I prescribe them to my patients and enjoy the all-expenses-paid confreneces in Hawaii twice a year.

I stopped watching/reading much of the news a few years ago. Every now and then I’ll scroll through CBC, American outlets. Everything is so negative. It’s damaging to the psyche. Especially if the person is reading it daily and/or all day everyday.

When the CBC labelled Ivermectin as horse dewormer without any investigation they lost me on Covid. Very small part of my life now. Everything became suspect. Crying shame. I had alway believed that I had grown up with the CBC. Off the pedestal.

Plain old goodness TRUTH is the one core component that is missing, that makes the difference. Truthfulness has been broken beyond repair by the world’s once great main stream journalists! Trust, once broken, takes a very long time - if ever - to repair.

The Chinese use the term Baizuo. It seems the Western media is run by them.

Speculation isn't 'news'. Cogent analysis is very different from meaningless jabber to entice for ratings or deliberately leading 'info' from multinational owners. CBC's inability or unwillingness to withstand has been heartbreaking. Just hope we can retain Canada...

Too bad so many so called journalists can’t deliver writing that is timely, relevant, unbiased, accurate, complete and clear. WAPO and NYT are just rags for the NYC and DC elites.

How about reporting on the good news happening in the world? It surely does exist - inspiring stories of humans helping each other and the natural world, etc. How inspiring and energizing that would be! Hope, agency, and dignity indeed. Who needs the rest of this nonsense? It matters less and less.

I stopped reading/watching/listening to the news when I lost my job 10 years ago and was forced to live off a subsistence living. All while being told by the news about how it was all my fault and that if I just worked harder, it would get fixed.
